WARREN COOPER FOUNDER AND PRESIDENT
Warren Cooper, President and founder of ACCU-Lab
Medical Testing, Inc. since 1991, created new training growth for
minorities interested in exploring the different aspects and
opportunities to work in the industry of forensic drug testing.
Warren Cooper brings to ACCU-Lab an understanding of federal drug
testing requirement, and extensive network of public and private
sector contacts, sensitivity to needs peculiar to the Chicago market
the firm serves, and more than 20 years experience in professional
management.
As a Board of Director of several inner city methadone clinics,
Mr. Cooper realized the lack of minority participation in the drug
testing industry. He founded ACCU-Lab Medical Testing to provide a
training ground for students interested in entering the burgeoning
industry. ACCU-Lab Medical Testing is the only African
American-owned forensic laboratory in the country.
Mr. Cooper directs the strategic management and development of
the firm. He also is a pro-bono consultant to social sector agencies
and high schools working on drug abuse and testing issues.
Prior to opening ACCU-Lab, Mr. Cooper was employed by the Federal
Aviation Administration (FAA) from October 1980 until September 1993
as an Air Traffic Control Specialist. He worked at Merrill C. Meigs
Field, Midway and O'Hare International Airports. He became the first
African-American to work in that capacity assigned to O'Hare
International Airport in Chicago.
In 1988, Mr. Cooper developed and implemented a curriculum for
Chicago City Colleges that resulted in fifteen minorities being
employed by the FAA. He also held positions with the Cook County
Sheriff's Department, Solicitor General of the United States and
Johnson and Johnson Corporation.
He helped negotiate drug-testing implementation between the Air
Traffic Controllers' Union and the Federal Aviation Administration
(FAA) under then -Secretary of Transportation Elizabeth Dole.
Mr. Cooper is a member of the American Association of Clinical
Chemist, the Regional Purchasing Council of the Chicago Urban
League, and the Cosmopolitan Chamber of Commerce.
